Press Release

For Immediate Release
CIS Consulting Group Partners with Viewpoint Construction Software

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 15, 2010) CIS Consulting Group, based in Charlotte, NC has been selected as a Viewpoint Construction Software Channel Partner for the CIS East Coast Territory, greatly enhancing the CIS product offering. Viewpoint offers the most modern SQL / .Net construction-specific solution tailored for mid to large contractors.

The added product line will allow CIS to offer a complete portfolio of technology solutions for its customer base as well as increased market opportunities in its North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland territories. Viewpoint Construction Software provides construction professionals with integrated, configurable applications for all aspects of project management, financial planning and day-to-day operations.

“We are excited to have Viewpoint as a strategic part of our construction technology offering. They are well positioned in key market segments, with well rounded product functionality delivered on a robust technology platform,” said Chuck Elyea, CEO of CIS Consulting Group.

I received word yesterday afternoon that Jim Campbell’s (CIS President & COO) youngest daughter, Kelly, age 17, was involved in a single-car accident in which she was the passenger. The driver was unharmed, but Kelly was killed instantly. Jim and Margie are obviously devastated, but at a high school vigil held only several hours after her death, the family took the opportunity to express lack of any blame for the driver while sharing their faith. Their strength is in their faith, but also in all of your friendships that have meant so much to them.

If you have the opportunity, please drop Jim and Margie a note or email. Please keep Jim, Margie, Brittany and Katie in your prayers

We will keep you posted on their arrangements.

Just published: My new book on Project Management reports in Sage Timberline Office. This is a follow up to my book on Job Cost reports.

You can order both books from CIS using our online catalog. Amazon.com will soon have the Project Management book, if you prefer to order it via there.

More about The Report Guide:

Wondered how to get information out of your software? Are you using the best change request formats? Looking for a primer on what reports or available?

The Report Guide explains and depicts almost 200 forms and reports from the Project Management application. It provides a sample image for each report. Detailed notes explain purpose, conditions, prompts, special considerations, and similar or alternative reports, such as those found in Job Cost. It even includes reports not found on the default Reports menu. A helpful introduction explains report access, file names, locations, and more.

Whether learning Project Management or just looking to get more out of your construction software, you need The Report Guide: Project Management Reports for Sage Timberline Office.

A customer wrote about the Job Cost book, “Timberline has hundreds of reports and it is hard to know which one we prefer. Sometimes we tweak one only to find out later there is one almost exactly the same in the system already. This book shows all the reports and is easy to navigate through.” Another customer came up to me at the recent TUG conference and exclaimed, “Your book is awesome!”

I hope you’ll place your order today.

Microsoft has several upcoming End of Support dates that all users of Microsoft Windows should know about. End of Support means that Microsoft will no longer create updates or hot fixes to address issues with the products. The most important point to this is that Microsoft no longer patch security issues for these products that are out of support.

All versions of Windows 2000 will go out of support on July 13, 2010. The only way to address this is to upgrade to a newer version of Windows. Please consult your IT provider on options to replace any Windows 2000 systems as soon as possible to limit your exposure.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 will go out of support on July 13, 2010. This can be addressed by upgrading to the latest service pack from Microsoft. It is recommended that all users of Windows XP apply Service Pack 3.

Windows Vista with no service pack (RTM) will go out of support on April 13, 2010. This can be addressed by upgrading to the latest service pack from Microsoft. It is recommended that all users of Windows Vista apply Service Pack 2.

For more information on Microsoft’s Product Lifecycle Policy, you can checkout their FAQ.
